Aluminium simply wouldn't work. The clamp component has to be able to flex, frequently and to a large extent (1-2mm at a guess). I don't profess to be a metallurgist but I can't see how that might work. But I agree that 3D printed materials are probably not robust enough for this application. Solid nylon or even rubber would work much better in my opinion. The liklihood of 3Drap making such a part is unlikely as their name suggests they're a 3D printing company. Likewise, I consider it unlikely that a production company capable of making the part would do so, as it would be a '4th party' component and not economically viable...

​@@Sifu_Steve You don't need the flexible part, if you do, a thin slice of metal leaf spring would work better than 3d prints. I'd prefer magnets instead. below the mechanism its possible to replace the springs so the shifter doesn't bounce back and forth. It should be possible to create a whole kit.

Those are kind words dude. Thank you. The truth is that I put a few videos up for folks on the SWGOH forums. I kept those going but as the game grew, so did the budgets of other content creators (they weren't even called that back then). I couldn't really compete. Moreover, my niche was building squads to beat the current meta. CG has the meta locked down now, behind a pay wall, so as much as I'd love to get back to those anti-meta teams, it's just not viable. That said, I'm having big success in Conquest, so I hope to put up a few vids detailing my various strategies and teams. Keep an eye out...

Sadly, I don't get anywhere near as much time on my rig nowadays. But it's held up just fine for about 1000 hours of racing. I make sure to keep it greased, which has helped. It *may* have lost some clamping force, but I haven't noticed it.

You're limited in size and shape as the head has to fit within the transformation. The Kreo head I used here is probably still easy to find. Likewise, you could pick up a DOTM Guzzle although it would be tiny. I would google 'Transformers with faceplates' and see what comes up. Cosmos is a contender, as is Goldfire with antennae clipped off. Note that for this Guzzle, I removed the entire ball joint and replaced it with another so I had both the ball and cup to match.

It required resetting about every couple of hours and a lot of torque on the clamps. Eventually, because I wasn't using it on an actual Playseat, the join between the two wood parts started to fail, so I switch to the platform that came with my wheel stand. The position is now wrong but stability isn't an issue at least. Eventually, I'll get around to fixing it as it's an easy fix but my rig is stored at the moment...

Search 3Drap and you'll find it easy enough.

Honestly, I don't think the advice changes. Pretty sure that if you type '3Drap' into Google anywhere in the world (except maybe China, Russia and North Korea), you'll get their website... To my knowledge, they don't have 3rd party sellers anywhere, so you have to order from their site. I'm in the UK and I seem to recall they have a few production centres. Mine came from Germany.

One of the perks of 3D printing is that you can electronically send the design anywhere in the world to have it printed locally. I have no doubt you'll be able to order. Press down on the stick and put it in 6th.

If you look closely on the piece itself, you can see what version it is. It should be at least V3.4. If it's anything less than that, it's an error by their picker. If you drop them a line, they'll almost certainly send you a replacement. I'd be interested to know which version you got. You can just take the top plate off and then take a photo with the flash to see it - no need to uninstall it completely.

The nylon version has been replaced by the plastic one you received a few months ago. We apologize for the lack of clarity." So v3.3 is the most recent version and plastic replaced the nylon ones. I hate when i'm being fooled, not gonna lie, i'm pretty pissed.

Yeah, that's bullshit. Someone at their office doesn't know what they're talking about. The actual company themselves has commented on here. Reply to them with that response and see what they have to say publicly. If they've reverted to the old V3.3, then I'll edit this video to say it's trash and shouldn't be bought.

Certainly. It's still working with only a slightly noticeable drop in clamping force. I think this new material is not only more flexible but more hard-wearing too. I do have a good routine for maintaining a decent amount of grease which is probably a big factor.

Correct. You definitely earned yourself a biscuit with that insight.

It simply wouldn't work - you wouldn't be able to select a gear. The video I made before this one showed the problems that happen if the centre piece isn't flexible. There has to be enough clamping force to hold the shifter in gear, but enough flexibility for the gear shaft to be able to move through it without it snapping. What it definitely does need is constant applications of grease. But even without that, the piece is expected to wear out eventually (which is why you can buy just that piece separately).

Not easily. There is only a single port for the shifter and therefore, it can only recognise 1 shifter at a time. I play with a wired pad connected which helps when I'm switching between menus/map etc. It allows you to use both wheel and pad together. My plan was to plug a USB handbrake in but it turns out that once you start a race, it 'commits' you to only use one controller input and the pad gets disconnected. There are ways of doing it but it involves soldering the handbrake wires to one of the buttons on the wheel... and that is way beyond me atm. You can look that up elsewhere on UA-cam if you're interested.

If you'd watched the video you would know that I explained, at length, the reason for that (1.54 onwards). TL,DW: It was initially installed the correct way but after the break, I switched it around so that if I was only going to get clamping force at one end, it was going to be in the top range.

Sorry, I didn't see this come in. You've probably worked it out by now but it was one of the requirements in that particular Galactic Challenge- to win with an undersized squad.

Same shits happening to me, going from 1st to second isn't a straight shot and sometimes it thinks its in neutral, i feel if youre really delicate and gentle with it it'll work better, but who tf wants to drive around a racing game like a grandma 24/7 lmfao

Yeah, I spotted that too and mentioned it in the video. If you look early in the vid when I first hold the 3.4 part up, you can see on one angle, the hole's not quite round. I was lucky enough to have a circular file to fix it but it's something they really should have addressed for 3.5.

@@Sifu_Steve the round parts of my samples (3.5) were too tight. I had to use a scissor to widen them. Now they are perfect. I hope they will fix the issue in the nearest future

It's currently on sale on their site: www.3drap.it/logi-mods/ The main mod component is €23 and the steel top plate is €10. They've since released an aluminium version of the plate for the same price. It's down to your budget obviously but if you're going with this setup, don't skip the plate - it was one of the factors I identified in the first video. I have a friend who installed something that used a rubber band. I've not used it, but he's used mine and says it's way better... but mine did cost 3 times as much. The main selling point with 3Drap's solution is the clamping force when in gear. If the spring you've found does that as well, then it may do a good job. Personally I can't see how any spring setup could, but I've not seen it. Good luck! I find with these sort of things, I either buy nice or buy twice. (",)

At the time I put this video up, they were only offering the basic plastic (+sticker) or a steel top plate. There was no aluminium option. I do say in this video that the steel plate adds a lot of weight which can mess with your shifter mount, causing it to slip. I would assume that the aluminium plate has been made to address that issue and will be considerably lighter.

Yeah, still no problems with the slider. I'd actually hoped it might have loosened a teeny bit by now. I do keep it really well greased though.

I'm happy to report it's still holding up as well as when I first installed it. We're over a month in and the nylon filament is clearly a much better solution than hard plastic. If I'm honest, I was kinda hoping it would have loosened up a bit because the additional force needed to shift can move my mount after an hour or so, meaning I have to loosen it, revolve it back into place and then tighten again... but that's just my own pedantry. The extra flex also seems to reduce the amount of friction and subsequent wear. As an aside, they've sent me V3.5 but as the screw holes are starting to look a dangerously close to threading (after several removals of the case), I probably won't install that unless this V3.4 fails.

Hello 3DRap, i ordered the mod cambio 3.5 a few weeks ago and received 3.3 plastic piece instead of the nylon one. Cheers for commenting bud. I noticed there was a lot of excess filament in lots of the screw holes. My guess is that your left-to-right problem is because you've got excess filament in one of the holes that the red runners go through. Cheers for mentioning it because when I get my replacement parts, I'm going to file down those holes when I file down the inside clamping surface. I also plan to glue some small pieces of metal wire on the underside of those partitions to give them some more strength. But dude, we really shouldn't need to be doing any of this. 3Drap should sort their product out rather than riding high on all the positive 'initial experience' reviews they've had...

That TD thing is one of those weird mechanics that seem to sit outside the normal rules of play (you know, the mechanics they stick on every new paywall toon now). This was a particularly bad run - usually Engineer survives a bit longer and Scav is the last man (jawa) standing. I've put this team against Shaak Ti and OR relic teams and even if they don't win, they completely cripple them. Not bad for a team I built for the AAT's release...
